nearly 2,000 sq km. of undulating country, Kanha National Park is located in
the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh in the central part of India. The
Surpan River meanders through Kanha's central maidans-grasslands. This tiger
country once inspired Rudyard Kipling to write the world famous book, "The
Jungle Book", which is still enjoyed by the school going children as
well as the adults.
Kanha is the home to 'hard ground' barasingha (cervus duvauceli branderi)
the only surviving population of this Central Indian sub-species. The
animals at Kanha are best observed from elephant back & jeeps. Deer are
seen along the maidans and gaur at Bamhnidadar or in the
Bishanpura-Sondhar-Ghorella area of the Mukki range.
Attractions :
The grasslands are covered with forests of sal, teeming with varieties of
deer the barasingha, chital (spotted deer), chousingha, nilgai, the gaur
(Indian bison) and wild pig, is 'tiger country'. This area is also ideal for
spotting the dhole or wild dog. Langurs, wild boar, water fowl and birds are
also commonly seen.

The
Bharatpur National park, now known as the Keoladeo National Park, located
about 50 km from Agra and 176 km from Delhi covers an area of 29 sq km.
Indeed, Bharatpur National Park, is justly identified as the pleasant niche
of the migratory birds. Therefore, this is one of the most important
breeding & feeding grounds for migratory birds in the world. Migratory
birds increase the population of the park by one third travelling from as
far as Europe & Siberia. These include the rare Siberian Crane traveling
half the globe to reach Bharatpur.
The Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary has a dense forest cover, which is responsible
in providing natural habitat to the migratory and resident birds. The
diverse plant species are a real exception to the region and are also the
stolen wealth of nature which has been packed here.
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is one of the finest bird parks in the world,
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary (Keoladeo Ghana National Park) is a reserve that
offers protection to zoological species as well. It is the habitat of water-
birds as well as migratory water birds and waterside birds, this sanctuary
is also inhabited by Sambar, Chital, Nilgai and Boar.
Attractions :
The major attractions of tourists visiting the park are the numerous
migratory birds, who come from as far away as Siberia and Central Asia and
spend their winters in Bharatpur, before returning to their breeding
grounds. Migratory birds at Bharatpur bird sanctuary include, several
species of Cranes, Pelicans, Geese, Ducks, Eagles, Hawks, Shanks, Stints,
Wagtails, Warblers, Wheatears, Flycatchers, Buntings, Larks and Pipits, etc.
